58 years ago, Sir Sean Connery appeared on the silver screen as the first James Bond. His portrayal of Bond, a man of style, mystery and charm captivated the world and immortalised the fictional character from Ian Fleming’s novels.

Never one to follow a trend, Connery’s style was timeless, sharp and pays homage to his Scottish roots with regular touches of tartan. Whether it’s flawlessly tailored suits and sports coats or off-duty polos and camp shirts, Connery’s style has transcended time (and the big screen) and has influenced the way men dress for over half a century.

Shortly after celebrating his 90th birthday, the 007 actor sadly passed away on October 31, surrounded by family and friends. His son Jason Connery said he had been “unwell for some time”. Although he is gone, no one will quite forget his influence on film and style. Here, we look back at just some of this best looks.
