Pushing the boundaries in time-piece design, Swiss watchmaker Hublot has joined forces with contemporary artists over the past two years to create a range of innovative and bold limited-edition watches coined, the “Hublot Loves Art series”. This time, the brand has teamed up with legendary street artist and OBEY designer Shepard Fairey, to create two unique watches.

Creating a name for himself during the presidential campaign for Obama, Fairey has now put his name behind Big Bang Meca-10. Featuring the brands signature in-house movement, the 223-part design boasts 10-day power reserve, a cogwheel system with two rakes sliding along a horizontal axis, a one-click mechanism which allows for a quick strap change, and a “STAR GEAR” logo at three o’clock. In a blue and red rendition, the face is etched with a tribal-inspired design, perfectly expressing Fairey’s art style, available in a dark navy or black strap.

“…one of the things I like about Hublot is, I feel like the brand, even though it’s a luxury brand, does not feel as intimidating or as ostentatious. I think that it’s got the right balance of making a statement but not coming across as too stuck up. There’s an embrace of art, of fashion, of sports. That’s something that makes it approachable,” Fairey told Highsnobsiety in an interview.

The newest addition to the series is capped at 100 pieces for each colour-way, retailing for $28,300 USD. For more information visit the Hublot official site here.
