When Sophie Turner was spotted for the first time since her divorce from Joe Jonas, it was clear the tumultuous break-up playing in the court of public appearance wasn’t letting it affect her. At least, that’s how it appeared on the surface.
Perhaps a trait learnt from her time playing Sansa Stark, Turner’s outing in Spain had cemented what netizens had predicted all along, staying quiet would earn her the last laugh.
The star hasn’t taken the route of her soon-to-be ex-husband by parading their two children around in front of paparazzi cameras, rather the actress was inconspicuously snapped while filming the upcoming true-crime series Joan (whom Turner plays the titular lead).
In the new images, Turner can be seen kissing her co-star Frank Dillane while filming a scene for the British crime drama. The paparazzi pictures show Turner frolicking in the water in an 80s watercolour shirt.
It’s a far cry from Turner “living her best life”, as other entertainment publications have reported, but they do say it’s best to heal your broken heart in the arms of another, even if it is for show.
Jonas filed for divorce from Turner earlier this month, reportedly citing their four-year marriage was “irretrievably broken”.
A source reportedly from Jonas’ camp told TMZ that the pair’s “different lifestyles” were partially to blame for the dissolution of their marriage. “She likes to party, he likes to stay at home,” the source added.
Though this was widely picked apart by netizens on social media given that the statement reeked of Jonas inadvertently shaming his wife, these new photos prove that Turner is focused on fulfilling her work commitments.
Turner is following the wisdom parted by Beyoncé by always staying gracious. The best revenge is your paper, after all.
