In the world of unattainable watch collaborations, rumours have surfaced this week via @dropsgg – the popular Instagram site dedicated to sharing the latest news on Supreme New York – that yet another collaboration between the respective titans of the watch and street-fashion world is imminent.
The Instagram account released a mock-up of what looks to be an audacious Supreme-red Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date embellished with the Supreme logo, hinting towards an FW22 release.
Naturally, the render has sent the watch world into a frenzy, and honestly, we’re not sure what to think about the potential collaboration.
Whilst any confirmation of such a collaboration has yet to be confirmed – @dropsgg do not work with the Supreme brand nor has Supreme made any comment on the speculative render – it’s clear that a majority of the watch community don’t want this collaboration to see the light of day. Well, at least not in the form of what has been presented above.
But if true, this collaboration would undoubtedly be the biggest team-up Supreme has up its sleeve for the coming FW season.
No other information on this potential collaboration is available at the moment but we’re guessing that if sources are true, the collaborative watch could possibly arrive with accompanying Supreme New York merch.
For those that don’t know, Supreme and Rolex collaborated on a ‘family and friends’ 40mm Submariner back in the Spring/Summer of 2013, which was designed as a classic stainless steel Sub with a black bezel and black dial but bore the words ‘FUCK EM’ in Supreme red on the dial. This iteration of the Submariner will now fetch prices as high as $100,000 USD.
If Supreme-branded Rolexes aren’t your vibe but you want in on the coloured dial craze, why not try your luck at finding a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 36mm in ‘Coral Red’, released in early 2021. Whilst difficult to secure from your AD, you can purchase these pieces on the second-hand market for roughly $18,000 to $26,000 AUD.
