You can’t tell us that Troye Sivan isn’t living out the twink dream: currently running the charts with two hit singles, the absolute ear worm ode to dancefloor hookups “Rush” and his latest release “Got Me Started”, which is already a TikTok viral hit (because that is how we measure music success now) plus he starred in one of the most controversial shows in recent years; and now, the 28-year-old performer has just made his debut runway appearance at Miu Miu in Paris.

Although he was almost upstaged by his footwear. But more on that in a moment.

When Miu Miu reintroduced their menswear line last year, it was met a collective sigh of “finally!” Why should girls get all the fun? This latest collection is confirms that the Miu Miu man is firmly rooted in a practical, playful world that is seamless from its womenswear counterpart.

Miu Miu’s dialogue has always veered towards unconventional – be that in pairings or the cut of familiar silhouettes. This collection veered between the nautical yachtwear holidaymakers and youthful more is more layering. Sivan’s role in all of this was a melange of off-duty prep: technical board shorts of the surfer bro below and the checkered shirt and polo of the Ivy League top.

And the shoes: boat shoes. Uniform of frat boys everywhere. This is Miu Miu at its most irreverent: a collection that thumbs its nose at masculine tropes by deliberately adopting one of its most signature items.

Sivan has been a bit of a fixture at this year’s fashion week, attending Loewe and Paco Rabanne this week. He also has a third studio album on its way, Something to Give Each Other and if the first two singles are any indication prepare for a collection of summer bangers.
