If Billy Porter is involved in an awards ceremony, then you know we’re stalking the red carpet. But for the occasion of the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards, a virtual event, stars of the screen are celebrating from the comfort of their own home. Jennifer Anniston can be seen in a sheet mask and pyjamas, Dylan McDermott is sitting in a casual lounge suit with his dog nearby, and Mark Duplas paired a suit jacket with Target flannels. The Pose actor however, has taken social media followers along with his ‘get ready with me’ routine.

Standing in front of the mirror on Instagram stories, shaving no less, Billy Porter shares positive affirmations and if you don’t do this yourself, you’re quite frankly doing it wrong. “We know what’s going on in the world, so I’m just trying to hold space for all things, trying not to lose my mind, trying to have a good time tonight,” Porter says.

The next slide shows the fierce actor holding up a DKNY hoodie which reads, ‘Choose Yourself. Save Yourself. Bet On Yourself.’ The slide after that then urges his followers to vote with a black flag in the background – “We must be present this November”, he captions the story. Porter goes on to describe his style as “free” while teasing what looks like a blazer-cross-dressing gown situation.

While we might not get to see billowing ball gowns, large head pieces and looks that serve from the 51-year-old on a real-life red carpet, we can reminisce. Emblazoned with $55,000 worth of crystals – 130,000 of them to be exact – on a long line, double-breasted blazer and wide-leg pants from Michael Kors, the actor stepped out at the 2019 awards ceremony in a pair of platform heels and Stephen Jones Millinery hat and another $50,000 worth of diamonds from Oscar Heyman.
