When the hit Netflix series ‘Daredevil’ abruptly ended in 2018, the fans of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) were devastated. Not only because the show was shockingly good, but its two lead actors in Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Frisk aka The Kingpin) were the perfect on-screen hero and foe.

Now, for the first time in over four years, Daredevil and and The Kingpin will appear once again in the MCU-set Disney+ series, Echo, a series set to revolve around Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez aka Echo and a direct follow-up series from the release of this year’s Hawkeye.

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the two actors will be reprising their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in the upcoming series, although it’s uncertain whether any other Marvel superhero/villain previously introduced by Netflix will be making an appearance, like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Punisher.

The new series centres around Maya Lopez after her shocking confrontation with Kingpin in Hawkeye, as she returns to her hometown to “reconnect with her Native American roots.”

But it’s not the first time we’ve seen former Daredevil alumni reprieve their respective roles in the MCU. Cox made his welcomed return to the MCU with a small but meaningful cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker’s lawyer. The ruthless Kingpin, played by D’Onofrio, returned in his true formidable form as the main villain in Hawkeye. Both actors have previously expressed a desire to continue playing their respective roles and joining the wider MCU, so it’s great to see Disney has taken noticed and is given both actors – and fans – what they want.

Joining Cox and D’Onofrio will be returning cast member Zahn McClarnon as well as Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning and Graham Greene. Marion Dayre will serve as head writer with Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie as directors.

Echo is currently in production and has no certified release date as of yet, but expect to see more of your Daredevil favourites in 2023.
