Samuel L. Jackson is perhaps one of the most prolific members of the Marvel clan – and for that matter, the Avengers squad – but while his recurring appearance as Nick Fury is almost a given, one co-star in particular has forgotten his important role.

Gwyneth Paltrow is a common Hollywood starlet but among action and comic fans, she is best known for her role as Pepper Potts, Tony Stark’s colleague and love interest. Appearing in Iron Man and The Avengers franchise, you could guess she’s come across Jackson and the general storyline more than a handful of times but according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige during a Q+A, he revealed Paltrow had forgotten about her fellow comrade.

Speaking with Empire in a live discussion, Feige looked back at filming the famed funeral scene during Avengers: Endgame.

Gwyneth Paltrow [was] asking why Sam Jackson was there,” said Feige, Empire reported. “And the other actors [were] jumping in saying, ‘What are you talking about? He’s Nick Fury! You’ve been in movies with him.’ But it was really something special.”

While we can’t blame the actress for a short memory block (it happens to us all doesn’t it?!) this is reportedly not the first time it has happened. In an appearance on Jon Favreau’s The Chef Show, her fellow co-star seemingly-turned-television-chef had to remind Paltrow on camera that they were in fact in the latest Spider-Man: Homecoming film. “We weren’t in Spider-Man,” Paltrow pressed.

In early June, the accomplished actress once again made headlines after forgetting who co-star Sebastian Stan is. After posting a photo to Instagram in which they appeared together, Stan added a snarky caption. “Glad I got to reintroduce myself to @gwynethpaltrowfor the third time,” he wrote last month. “We are in the same film.”

But can we really blame the Academy Award-winner? To be fair, there are many, many films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the cast don’t necessarily see or meet each other on set all the time. We’ll let this one slide, once more.
