The discourse about Justin and Hailey Bieber failing to match each other’s sartorial energy has finally caught up with them, with the Rhode Beauty founder finally addressing why their personal aesthetics are anything but complimentary.

In a new interview, Bieber admitted that she doesn’t only see the barrage of discourse around their respective styles. She also finds the purveying of their clashing fashion tastes hilarious. (Whether she’s laughing with us or at us, including the people planning on dressing like her and the musician for Halloween, is hard to tell).

“It’s so funny because I see so many people talk about this,” Hailey said when asked by the interviewer why she and her husband dress like “they’re attending events on two separate planets”.

Bieber explained that the reason for their antithesis dressing mostly comes from Justin being dressed before she does. Though we’re not privy to the conversations in the Bieber household, based on their respective looks—which typically is some variation of a sensual minidress or sculpted riff on tomboy silhouettes for Hailey and eclectic leisurewear for Justin—we can assume most of us would ask our husband to change into something else if we saw them planning on leaving the house in sweats.

Though, Bieber doesn’t see it this way. “He may want to wear baggy sweats to dinner, and I might want to wear a tiny little dress just because that’s how I’m feeling,” the model noted. “We can’t sit there and be like, ‘So I’m going to wear this and you’re going to wear this’.”

You can, of course. But, perhaps that’s a luxury only those of us without stringent schedules and multi-million-dollar careers can afford.
