New York Fashion Week is the usual home for German-born Hugo Boss but as the fashion house looks to world domination with its sartorial classics and modern influences, the brand took to Italy in a welcomed change. Sharing passion for craftsmanship and personal expression, it presented its new collection, ‘BOSS individuals’.

With the city in mind, the forthcoming line was presented on a slate grey backdrop while style cues from its waterside location and colourful residents was infused into the looks. Revealing the many facets of the BOSS man and woman, the brand’s signature sense of sophistication was combined with a relaxed approach. Suits are eased and sportswear receives a refined edge lending itself to street appeal. Amongst a predominately neutral and monochromatic colour palette – whites, blacks and beige style made up much of the collection – bursts of pale yellow, red, turquoise and navy revived one-colour dressing.

The looks were given a luxury touch with intricate craftsmanship apparent in key pieces. Leather was patchworked, bonded, laminated and laser-cut while light silk and cotton yarns elevated open-knit sweaters and sports attire were crafted from technical cotton fabrication.

To finish the looks, mens accessories came in the form of leather strap sandals and chunky-sole Oxfords – of which were presented in the same colours as the looks. As for bags, men’s leather cary-alls and backpacks were embossed with the initials of its wearers, a custom touch.

For Spring/Summer 2020, Hugo proved who was Boss whilst simultaneously ushering a new Italian heritage into the German house. See every look below.
