When Jason Momoa fronted the first standalone Aquaman film, the Warner Bros-led project grossed a massive $1.14 billion USD at the global box office. Now poised to appear in the new sci-fi film Dune as well as continue his role in the AppleTV+ series SEE, his gritty appearance and glaring stare will take a break as he enters negotiations for a new live action remake with Warner Bros.
As reported by Variety, Momoa is set to star as Frosty the Snowman in the live-action/CG hybrid whilst Framestore UK will handle the animation. Momoa will also produce with Geoff Johns, Greg Silverman and Jon Berg.
“We know Jason’s a true human being filled with love, compassion and a deep connection to ohana … all of which is the living spirit of Xmas and Frosty,” Silverman said.
“From his role as a count in a land of ice and fire to the oceanic success we all had with ‘Aquaman,’ it felt only right to realise Jason this time in snow,” said Berg, who was an executive producer on Aquaman.
The fictional character of Frosty the Snowman was born from the popular Christmas song of the same name, written by Walter Rollins and Steve Nelson in 1950.
