English actor Dev Patel has many skills and real life hero seems to be one of them after it was revealed that he attempted to stop a stabbing in the South Australian capital of Adelaide.

That’s right – the Oscar-nominated star of Lion, Slumdog Millionaire and the criminally overlooked Green Knight is currently in Australia. And he tried to stop one of you from killing your mate. Honestly, never change Adelaide.

According to news reports, a man and woman were fighting in the street before the pair took things inside into a convenience store where things turned ugly. Which is where Patel stepped in, attempting to prevent the fight from continuing however the man was stabbed in the chest.

According to the actor’s reps, Patel was simply out having a nice time with his friends when he saw shit going down. “Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and de-escalate the situation and break up the fight,” Patel’s representatives said. “The group was thankfully successful in doing so, and they remained on site to ensure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived.”

Patel’s presence in fair Radelaide is personal, rather than professional. He has been dating Australian actress Tilda Cobham-Hervey since 2018, whose hometown is the South Australian state capital. Whether it’s a visit or something longterm isn’t clear – although even Variety is now saying that Patel has since permanently moved to Australia. Do you think he sometimes hangs out with Chris Hemsworth and and Nicole Kidman?

The 32-year-old is currently in post-production for his directorial debut, Monkey Man, a film about a recently released ex-con in India struggling to fit back into the outside world. There’s also talks that he will star in the new Wes Anderson film for Netflix, an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s novel The Wonderful World of Henry Sugar, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Ben Kingsley, Richard Ayoade, and Ralph Fiennes.
