After a brief foray with controversial The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, though, the singer has been keeping a low profile.
Focusing on her ongoing album re-records and epic Eras Tour schedule, the 33-year-old has mostly been spotted running between recording studios and only hitting the town for the occasional girls’ night. But after a tip-off sent to celebrity gossip account Deux Moi, rumours are swirling about a potential new—unexpected—romance in Swift’s life.
For someone who has written countless songs from the perspective of the timid ‘Other’ girl pining after the Stephens and Drews of the world, the singer has surprised fans with her latest move: dating a jock.
The anonymous tip claimed that the ‘You Belong With Me’ singer had “made an appointment to go somewhere that she frequents” with NFL star Travis Kelce.
Kelce, also 33, is the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and hosts a podcast called New Heights, where he recently revealed that he tried to connect with Swift before her Eras Tour concert dates in Kansas City in July.
As a sweet way to get his foot in the door with the pop star, Kelce made a bracelet for the show that contained the digits of his phone number on the beads. He also revealed that he’s been “looking for love” for the last ten years.
But while he may have failed back then to get his number in her hands, all might have worked out for him in the end.
A source told The Messenger on Tuesday that Kelce and Swift “have been quietly hanging out.”
“She saw him when she was in NYC a few weeks ago,” the insider alleged. Of course, we’re unlikely to get a confirmation from either party for a while, but we can’t help but feel some sport-themed love songs brewing.
