When the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was first released in 2018, it was received by rave reviews thanks to a heartfelt storyline that introduced the computer-animated superhero character Miles Morales as Spider-Man. But this wasn’t your ordinary Spider-Man tale, but in fact, one that introduced the idea of the Multiverse. And fans couldn’t get enough.

Now, the half-decade wait is almost over with the official unveiling of the first trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, and it looks like a jam-packed adventure ahead for Miles Morales and friends.

The new film sees the return of Miles Morales as Spider-Man, as he embarks on his greatest adventure yet: a return to the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of superheroes (a plethora of Spider-men, in fact) who are set with the responsbibilty of protecting the the existence of their respective universes. Natraully, it won’t be all smooth sailing for Miles, who will have to come to terms with dealing with the way the other Spider-Men deal with their situations, and in turn, must redefine what it means to be a hero.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will see the return of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, ras well as Jake Johnson as Peter B Parker, Luna Lauren Vélez as Miles’s mother Rio and Brian Tyree Henry as Miles’s father Jefferson Davis, with newcomers including Issa Rae as Spider-Woman and Daniel Kaluuya as Spider-Punk. Oscar Isaac will also return as Miguel O’Hara (aka Spider-Man 2099), who appeared in the first film’s post-credits scene.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released in cinemas globally on June 2, 2023.
