In September this year, Marvel Studios released its first trailer to the highly-anticipated film, Captain Marvel. Starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers – the much-loved superhero and sidekick in a number of classic comics – she now has her own origin story. While information surrounding the head-strong lead was sketchy in the first trailer, we now have an in-depth look at what is to come, including exactly why she punched that old lady.

“Your life began the day it nearly ended. We found you, with no memory, we made you one of us. So you could live longer, stronger, superior. You were reborn.”

This is the opening to the studios’ second trailer as we learn how Danvers came to become Captain Marvel. With high-stakes battles, epic SFX , intertwined with lighthearted humour, it is the classic Marvel film you know, lead by a badass woman.

Also starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, the storyline is set in the ’90s where Danvers is stuck between a galactic war with the Skrulls and Krees. Drawing inspiration from the war outlined in the ’70s Avengers story, the film may provide a link between Ronan (from Guardians of the Galaxy) and his villanous ways after an attempt to turn Earth into a Skrull base.

The film is set to drop into cinemas in March, 2019. In the meantime, check out the second trailer below.
