Nowadays and in light of the several tragedies the country of America has witnessed in the last several years, having any ties to Donald Trump is considered social (and business) suicide. Last week, billionaire and owner of Equinox and Soul Cycle Stephen Ross announced a fundraiser for Donald Trump. With tickets costing as much as $250,000, celebrities including Chrissy Teigen and Billy Eichner called the public to boycott the company. Now, Armie Hammer is shining the spotlight onto an unlikely company backing Trump’s campaign – Marvel.

Taking to Twitter, Hammer posted, “Hey, while everyone seems to be on this Equinox thing, it might be a good time to mention that one of Trump’s largest financial contributors is the chairman of Marvel Entertainment (Isaac Perlmutter).”

It is already famously known that the Israeli-American has a close relationship with the US President, but the funds contributed to the man are staggering. According to The Hill, Perlmutter and his wife have donated $600,000 thus far towards Trump’s 2019 presidential campaign, while the Marvel Entertainment Chairman regularly donates to conservative causes.

Though news like this is enough to have some fans ‘cancel’ the entertainment giant, fan-favourite films such as Black Panther, Captain Marvel and The Avengers franchise are not affiliated with the comic-centric business, but are instead run by Marvel Studios.

While there is support for Hammer’s tweet, some users are accusing the actor of being a sore player with one follower replying, “Someone’s still upset they didn’t get a sweet Avengers role…”, and another stating, “Hey Armie, do you REALLY want to play this game? You’ve worked for a lot of people, including faceless producers that funded your movies. Should we start digging through everything anyone associated with producing, working alongside, and funded your films?”

Do they have a point? Nevertheless, this is proof of the backlash anyone faces when in support of President Donald Trump.
