“The Rock” by name, “The Rock by nature. Dwayne Johnson has certainly earned the famous nickname after sharing a post-gym photo while training for upcoming superhero film Black Adam.

The 48-year-old shared an image to Instagram captioned with, “Black Adam ready⚡️⛓ It’s always the work we quietly put in when no one is watching that changes the game. Grateful for the grind (and the face of my Warrior Spirit always watching my back 🙏🏾💪🏾).”

According to the actor, production on the DC film will start this week. While the plot behind the film is underwraps, the comic book villain first appeared in the 1940s. By the 2000s, Black Adam was known as an anti-hero. The film was originally slated for release in 2021 however due to health restrictions, it has been pushed back for an expected drop from July 29, 2022.

For such massive gains (though let’s be honest, he was big to begin with) Johnson shared what he has for breakfast on Instagram, last month. It includes whole eggs and egg whites, beef tenderloin, oatmeal and blueberries, as well as gluten-free Ezekiel English muffins and Smart Balance butter, with some Stevia and cinnamon added for extra sweetness.

As Magnus Lygdback – personal trainer to Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot – told ICON in a past interview, preparation for such role occurs months before filming starts.

“The difference with a movie is that you need to be in shape many days prior to the first day of shooting,” Lygdback said. He added, “It’s different from project to project but most of the time the director and the actor have an idea on how they want to shape or build the character.”

Stay tuned for more on Black Adam as it’s released. In the meantime, appreciate Dwayne Johnson’s thighs.
