Best known for his work in critically acclaimed television shows Luther and The Wire as well as films including Bastille Day, Idris Elba has a reputation for fronting action films. While he is set to appear in Hobbs & Shaw later in the year, the actor’s latest project is an unlikely one.

Come mid-March, Elba will front new Netflix show Turn Up Charlie and his next in-character challenge is a tough one. Co-created by the 46-year-old and Gary Reich, the story follows a down-and-out DJ and eternal bachelor Charlie, who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a nanny to his best friend’s problem-child, Gabby. Dubbed a “dramedy”, the satirical trailer offers a glimpse into the comedic yet slightly outrageous world he is found in.

In a case of art imitating life, Elba will find himself playing at Coachella in April this year while his somewhat unknown talent has had him see other major bookings including Glastonbury Festival in 2015 and more recently a set at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception.

The first season of Turn Up Charlie will launch onto Netflix on March 15 and will also star Piper Perabo and Captain America’s JJ Feild. Tune into the trailer below.
