Despite ongoing actor and writers strikes, a Twitch streamer inciting a riot in New York City and FIFA fever taking over the country, there’s still been time for prime style moments courtesy of Justin Bieber, Brian Cox and Shawn Mendes.
The Sneaker
Spotted on the way out of uber hip Soho House in Malibu, Justin Bieber was a walking billboard of off-duty style: oversized hoodie, fitted tank and a pair of sweats topped off with a bucket hat. But the pièce de résistance of the whole ensemble was ‘Peaches’ singer ‘s footwear of choice: a pair of New Balance 550 in blue suede.
A streamlined take on the basketball shoe, the 550 adds a clean minimalist direction to the silhouette while retaining that classic 80s vibe, the golden era of sneakers.
This isn’t the first time that Bieber has been spotted in a pair of 550s either. The 29-year-old has a long history with the brand, famous for its role in reviving the Dad Sneaker trend, including being seen wearing a limited edition collaboration pair from French label Aimé Leon Dore.

The Jacket
Brian Cox may have played a ruthless, take no prisoners, CEO in the hit series Succession but in real life the Scottish actor is very much for the people. As negotiations with studio execs continue to stall (which has seen the Emmys put on hold) plenty of big time celebs, including Cox, have joined the strikes to show their support for their fellow actors and the writers who create their shows.
But even while striking, the 77-year-old still manages to pull together a look that would put his fellow thespians half his age to shame. While addressing the Equity-organised rally in support of the SAG actors strike in London, Cox rocked up wearing a classic chore jacket designed by Melbourne-based label Christian Kimber.
It would appear that Cox is quite the fan of Australian brand too, having previously been spotted wearing the brand’s Kingsford Suede Field Jacket and Inverloch Ice Cotton Polo at the launch of his film The Prisoner’s Daughter last year.

The Aquanaut 5168G that Mendes is rocking is the definition of quiet luxury, though: simple, sporty and effortless in aesthetic it also retails for a cute sum of US$50K. Despite the watch’s robust nature that makes it A-Ok to take for a swim, we can’t tell if we’re impressed or distressed at the thought of a Patek so casually worn in the ocean.
