Martin Margiela is considered a genius in the fashion industry by all accounts. Even Jean-Paul Gaultier, a mentor to the designer said, “I was expecting it to be good. I didn’t expected it to be that good.” Behind the veiled model, the Belgian designer established his brand, Maision Martin Margiela in 1988 and by the early ’90s he was behind one of the most celebrated houses. All whilst never revealing his identity.

Now, complete with expert sources, interviews from the likes of fashion editor Carine Roitfeld, fashion journalist Cathy Horyn, and Margiela’s former mentor Jean Paul Gaultier as well as behind-the-scene pictures, the life and work of Margiela will be broadcast to the world. Known as the ‘Banksy of fashion’, the designer stepped away from his namesake brand a decade ago for time outside the industry.

From the director of 2007 Dries Van Noten documentary Dries, comes Martin Margiela: In His Own Words, set for global release on Friday, April 10. Watch the trailer below.
