A new type of presence has been slowly emerging and gaining traction over the past 20 years, where the likes of artificial intelligence and an array of technological advances have blurred the lines between robotics and humanity. Even in basic terms, each one of us holds a ‘digital identity’, from our social media pages, avatars and our personal information, there is no way to escape the digital era.

French photographer Nicolas Bigot – better known as Niko Photographism – has portrayed this exact concept in a series of photographs, skilfully photoshopped by hand to create effects of CGI and humans with severed limbs and robotic parts. His intention was to blur the line between what is real and what is a creation.
