The influx of pink in the watch market has been, from our perspective anyway, perhaps one of the most entertaining trends to arise from 2023 and with the release of the new Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink, we’re glad to see it’s not going anywhere any time soon. The more the rosier, as they say.

The latest addition to the Tudor timepiece family is, according to the brand, an homage to the spirit of its ambassadors, David Beckham and Jay Chou. For Chou, pink is his signature colour worn as leader of the Giro d’Italia. Beckham’s connection–well, he’s the original metrosexual isn’t he?

Diverging from the classic aesthetics, the Black Bay Chrono Pink introduces a striking pink panda dial, a playful yet sophisticated addition that stands in contrast to the monochromatic tones typically seen in high-end watchmaking. This daring choice not only highlights Tudor’s versatility but also nods to the modern trend of incorporating vivid colors into luxury accessories.

The watch is housed in a robust 41mm case crafted from 316L stainless steel, known for its superior durability and resistance to corrosion. The case’s polished and satin-brushed finishes add a touch of refinement, while the fixed bezel, also in stainless steel, features an insert in black anodised aluminium with a tachymetric scale, enhancing the watch’s functional appeal.

One of the notable innovations in this model is the introduction of a five-link bracelet in stainless steel, equipped with Tudor’s “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp. This feature allows for on-the-fly adjustments across five positions within an 8mm window, ensuring a perfect fit without the need for tools. The inclusion of ceramic ball bearings in the clasp mechanism not only enhances the smoothness and security of the closure but also adds a pleasing tactile element to the wearer’s experience.

The heart of the Black Bay Chrono Pink is the Manufacture Chronograph Calibre MT5813, a movement that underscores Tudor’s horological expertise. This COSC-certified caliber showcases an exceptional 70-hour power reserve and incorporates a silicon balance spring, ensuring heightened accuracy and reliability. The movement’s design features a column wheel mechanism and vertical clutch, embodying the pinnacle of traditional watchmaking. Its finishing touches—a rotor in tungsten monobloc, satin-brushed with sand-blasted details, alongside bridges and mainplates adorned with alternating sand-blasted, polished surfaces, and laser decorations—speak to the meticulous craftsmanship that Tudor is renowned for.

Moreover, the Black Bay Chrono Pink retains the signature elements that have defined the Black Bay line since its inception. The iconic “Snowflake” hands, introduced in 1969 and now rendered with Grade A, Swiss Super-LumiNova® for optimal legibility, maintain a strong visual link to Tudor’s diving heritage. The dial, with its domed pink surface and contrasting circular sub-counters, draws inspiration from the first generation of Tudor chronographs, featuring a 45-minute counter and a date aperture at 6 o’clock.

This latest iteration from Tudor is more than a mere timekeeping device; it’s a bold declaration of style, a fusion of technical mastery and aesthetic daring. The Black Bay Chrono Pink invites watch enthusiasts and trendsetters alike to celebrate the spirit of individuality and the joy of colour, all while ensuring the precision and functionality that Tudor is celebrated for.
