Britain’s longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II has died in Balmoral, Scotland. She was 96. Buckingham Palace shared the news that she had passed peacefully this morning, and the world is in mourning.
Elizabeth became queen in 1952, following the sudden death of her father. In her 70-year rule she was the first monarch to step foot in Australia, and proceeded to visit the country on 15 occasions. She had four children, including her successor King Charles III, eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, passed away last year at age 99.
There is no doubting The Queen lived a full life, which can be remembered now in pictures.
