If you haven’t been paying attention to Hollywood of late, there’s currently a changing of the guard happening before our eyes, with a host of new and upcoming talent set to make their mark as the next Brad Pitt’s and Leonardo di Caprio’s of the movie world.
From pure and raw talent to brooding looks that capture our hearts, we’ve curated a list of the five men to watch out for in Hollywood in 2022.
Who’s your pick?
Known for: Elio (Call Me by Your Name); Paul (Dune)
What can be said about Mr. Timothée Chalamet… the Hollywood heartthrob is touted as the next Leonardo di Caprio thanks to his impressive acting acumen, which includes a slew of blockbusters (Dune) and highly-anticipated releases (Don’t Look Up). But with a bright year ahead of the young actor, you can expect big things to come from Chalamet – like his rendition as Willy Wonka, set to hit our screens in 2023. Not all brooding looks, though. Chalamet is good for a laugh, too. Just check out his Saturday Night Live appearance to see what we mean.
Known for: Nate (Euphoria)
The Australian actor is making waves in the US right now not only for devilish good looks, but his role as Nate Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria has cemented his acting chops in Hollywood for good. Among his starring role in Euphoria, Elordi has starred in the hit comedy The Kissing Booth. Elordi is also of high interest to the tabloids thanks to his dating history, which includes the likes of Zendaya, Kaia Gerber and Joey King.
Known for: Connell (Normal People); Will (The Lost Daughter)
Girls want to be with him, guys want to be him; but despite having the ‘It’ factor, Paul Mescal seems like just your average, humble 25-year old. Only, he’s not. The Irish actor is one of the best up-and-coming stars, and is set for a massive 2022, starting with his new Sci-Fi flick ‘Foe’ which is currently being filmed in Melbourne, Australia.
Known for: Peter (The Power of the Dog)
Australia’s Kodi Smit-McPhee is turning heads (in a good way) this awards season, picking up a ton of awards – including a Golden Globe – for his role as Peter Gordon in the western psychological drama, The Power of the Dog. He also has some exciting acting projects coming up in 2022, including a part in Baz Luhrmann’s highly-anticipated ‘Elvis‘ biopic.
Known for: Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Spider-Man MCU films)
Forever our Spidey, Tom Holland, the young Brit, is making his mark in America with back-to-back blockbusters in recent months that include Spider-Man: No Way Home and the soon-to-be-released ‘Uncharted’. What we loved about Holland, besides his boyish charm and real-life similarities to Peter Parker, is that he seems like a really genuine, caring guy… and that goes a long way in the world of film. Watch out for some super exciting projects to come from the 25-year old, which (hopefully) includes future MCU appearances.
