It is perhaps the most stylish event on the awards calendar. Overnight, some of the fashion industry’s most celebrated celebrities and designers descended into the Brooklyn Museum in New York for the CFDA Fashion Awards. Ushering in a slew of prestigious faces and names, the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Rick Owens were among the icons recognised during the ceremony while CFDA Chairman Tom Ford was also in attendance.
The spotlight highlighted some of the best talent in fashion and with it was an impressive guest list teeming with avant-garde red carpet looks and dapper suiting. Notably, it was Virgil Abloh who took to the carpet, trading in his usual black t-shirt for a full grey ensemble. Pulling from his own Louis Vuitton FW/19 collection – along with Gigi Hadid’s powder blue Homme look – the designer and DJ paired a blazer/bomber hybrid jacket, with a button up, slit pants and grey court shoes to match.
Elsewhere on the red carpet, pale violet and electric pink made a power play, while others opted for a short and blazer combo as well as several iterations of the tuxedo variety. If anything is for sure, every look was different and is providing plenty of inspiration for your next event attire.
