“Cao” (2014), a marble floor sculpture, will appear in Ai Weiwei’s exhibition at the new UTA Artist Space in Beverly Hills, a building he is helping to redesign

After his recent discussion with A$AP Rocky, international artist and activist Ai Weiwei has planned three new exhibitions to be shown in Los Angeles. From September 28, Weiwei will present everything from large-scale installations, LEGO figures and textile-based mediums, reported by the New York Times.

Touching on issues such as the rising refugee crisis as well as art in the form of Chinese Zodiac characters, the artist will take over the Marciano Art Foundation for September 28 followed by Jeffrey Deitch’s new Hollywood gallery on September 29 to exhibit his marble sculptures and lastly, UTA Artist Space in Beverly Hills from October 4.

“This is how Weiwei likes to do things: when he comes to a city, he takes over a city,” said Jamie Manné, deputy director of the Marciano Art Foundation.
