Game, set, match: Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka emerged as the champions of the 2024 Australian Open taking home the Men’s and Women’s singles titles.

The win marks Sabalenka’s second consecutive Australian Open, defeating Qinwen Zheng in straight sets (6-3, 6-2). She dominated throughout the tournament without dropping a set. Sabalenka quickly gained the upper hand in the final, breaking Zheng’s serve early and maintaining control despite Zheng’s occasional aces and fightback attempts. Zheng, who showcased a powerful yet erratic serve, struggled against Sabalenka’s consistent performance. Sabalenka secured victory despite Zheng saving multiple championship points. Following the tournament, Zheng will achieve a career-high world ranking of seven, while Sabalenka remains world number two.

As for Sinner, the young star scored a comeback victory against Daniil Medvedev, marking the first Italian to win an Australian Open singles title in the Open era. Sinner’s win, with final scores of 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3, showcased his resilience and tactical adaptability. Medvedev initially dominated, but Sinner gained momentum in the third set, improving his serve and exploiting Medvedev’s fatigue. Sinner’s key breaks in the fourth and fifth sets were crucial to his victory in this gruelling match.

But it wasn’t all sport on the night either. Before each final, the custom Louis Vuitton trophy trunks, designed to house the prestigious Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup and Norman Brookes Challenge Cup, were presented to the crowd. These trunks, a blend of Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram canvas and classic lozine leather trim, symbolise the shared values of excellence, innovation, and respect for history and tradition between Louis Vuitton and the Australian Open.

For the women’s final, tennis legend Evonne Goolagong Cawley and actor Joel Edgerton presented the cases while Louis Vuitton House Ambassador star of Blonde, Ana de Armas, presented the men’s trunk, along with two times Australian Open champion in 1992 and 1993, Jim Courier.

For her part, de Armas was also proof that tennis remains one of the most stylish games of today. To celebrate the final, the Cuban star was elegantly dressed head to toe in Louis Vuitton (naturally) featuring a long-sleeved circle wrap vinyl blouse, a Bouclé Monogram mini skirt with front pockets, and Silhouette ankle boots. Complementing her outfit, she wore Louis Vuitton’s Fine Jewelry collection pieces, including Blossom mini hoops, an earcuff, and an open ring, all crafted in pink gold and diamonds.

Edgerton kept it equally stylish, wearing a grey single-breasted wool blend Pont Neuf suit, black pique cotton t-shirt and LV Trainer.
