‘Old Celine’ or ‘New Celine’ no one can deny the influence of the French fashion house. Following the presentation of Spring/Summer 2021 titled ‘The Dancing Kid’, creative director Hedi Slimane is ushering in an exclusive capsule with luxury e-tailer Mr Porter. Set to be one of the most coveted partnerships of the season.
‘The Dancing Kid’, inspired by Eboys, current skate culture and new adolescent codes of dress and creativity, is a candid portrait of a generation that has taken advantage of confinement and isolation by asserting and emancipating itself through the spontaneity of dance, music and self-expression. Drawing from this Generation Z archetype, the collection is grungy, bold and what you’d expect from the design sensibilities of Celine – always looking to make a statement.
Featuring 48-pieces – of which 30 are exclusive to Mr Porter – key looks include black mirrored joggers, an acid-washed denim trucker jacket with appliqué patches, black and white Baja knit poncho, oversized T-shirt with “The Dancing Kid” logo, and a palm tree print camp-collar silk shirt.
In addition, Hedi Slimane invited six artists to participate in the campaign, which has been realised as a group show, along with a new visual language anchored in dance and teen romance. To bring the digital pop-up to life, Mr Porter will play home to dedicated editorial and social content, you can follow along here and via The Journal.
