Lacoste is a brand deeply rooted in its tennis history but as the lauded tennis brand navigates the modern day affinity of streetwear, it has been the centre of some huge collaborations. Think, Supreme, Golf Wang and Keith Haring. Splashing the crocodile branding among some of the most coveted labels has landed the namesake brand with Chinatown Market this month, for its most loud collaboration yet.

Launching this week, Chinatown Market has tapped Lacoste to introduce a bold new collection with a casual nostalgic touch, injecting a dose of both heritage and streetwear flair to the crocodile brand’s most creative line. Unbeknown to many, Chinatown Market was born in 2016 at ComplexCon, with just a few shirts to its name.

Since then, the brand known for its nostalgic interpretation of classic silhouettes ranging from t-shirts and fleece as well as basketballs, rugs, collectables and DIY kits, has picked up a cult following. Devoted fans include the likes of Jay-Z, Erykah Badu and LeBron James, in turn becoming a leader in the niche streetwear scene.

Its collaborative effort with Lacoste has resulted in a myriad of vibrant and punchy prints. Key pieces include a fierce crocodile in an XXL-version on T-shirts, embroidering different colours on sweatshirts and caps. Between the sugary colours of a polo shirt and the pavement black of a hoodie, the partnership is stirring some serious hype. A nod to the brands soaring digital rise and its ironic creations, Chinatown Market seals this collaboration with a globe motif featured on short-sleeve shirts.
