Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a knack for creating headlines for all the wrong reasons, this time by attending an event in Jamaica where they posed with Prime Minister Andrew Holness. Normally, this would be par for the course of a psuedo royal visit (are they still royal if they keep talking against the family) but for the fact that Holness is a well-known, very vocal, anti-monarchist. The Duke and Duchess were on the island to attend the premier of Bob Marley: One Love when they were snapped with Holness and fellow anti-monarchist Marlene Malahoo Forte.

Honestly, do they not have an assistant to warn them about these ops? Where is Andy Sachs when you need her?

The meeting held at the invitation of Brian Robbins, a major Hollywood executive, has sparked discussions due to the couple’s history with the British Royal Family and the current political climate in Jamaica.

Since leaving the UK for the US in 2020, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had a tumultuous relationship with the British Royal Family. The couple has openly criticised the Royal Family, alleging racist treatment. Their departure and subsequent interviews have strained relations, particularly with Prince Harry’s brother, William, and father, Charles. The family’s dynamic has been a subject of intense public scrutiny, adding context to the couple’s recent appearance in Jamaica.

During the event, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex posed with various Jamaican leaders, including Holness and Forte, the latter who has expressed intentions to remove King Charles as head of state. This move has been deemed “insensitive” by royal experts, considering the current health concerns of King Charles and the ongoing discussion about Jamaica potentially becoming a republic.

Royal expert Phil Dampier criticised Prince Harry and Markle for the timing of their appearance in Jamaica, highlighting the health issues of Princess Catherine and King Charles. He suggested that their participation in the event, especially during a period when Jamaica is considering severing ties with the British monarchy, was inconsiderate.

Amidst these events, reports suggest that Harry and Markle are increasing their efforts in Hollywood, seeking a new content production deal as their agreement with Netflix nears its expiration. The couple’s involvement in the film industry, coupled with their political gestures, indicates their continued move away from traditional royal duties and towards a more independent public presence.
