American actor and all-round nice guy Ryan Reynolds has proven once more that he has the brains to match the brawn when it comes to surviving – and thriving – in Hollywood. The 46-year old has sold one of his businesses, Mint Mobile, to American telecommunications behemoth T-Mobile, in a record USD$1.3 Billion deal that will earn the actor over USD$300 million in the process.

Mint Mobile is a prepaid wireless provider which Reynolds has partially owned since 2019. He announced the news of the T-Mobile sale on Instagram.

“To keep things above board, I’ll be paying myself $15 a month,” the actor joked.

The news of T-Mobile’s acquisition was announced on Wednesday, with the company saying that it will acquire Mint’s sales, marketing, digital and service operations. The mega transaction will close later on in the year, much to Reynolds’ delight, no doubt.

“I never dreamt I’d own a wireless company and I certainly never dreamt I’d sell it to T-Mobile. Life is strange and I’m incredibly proud and grateful,” Reynolds tweeted.

The actor added that he only wants “the best for Mint Mobile customers.”

Reynolds has been praised for his investment savviness in the past, with this sale only going to prove that perhaps he is a businessman, first and foremost. Aside from Mint Mobile, the actor is also the co-owner of Welsh football team Wrexham AFC — a successful amateur-league football club striving to reach the heights of the English Premier League. Reynolds also sold his gin brand, Aviation Gin, for a reported USD$610 million back in 2020.

Away from wheeling and dealing, he also happens to be one of the highest-paid actors in the world right now. Reynolds will next appear in Deadpool 3 alongside Aussie star Hugh Jackman who will reprise his role as Wolverine.
