As we continue to navigate the year of surprising collaborations, Japanese watchmaker Seiko has unveiled an unlikely partnership with Californian streetwear label Huf. The result are two limited edition Seiko 5 sport watches that you didn’t know you needed.

The two new models will be limited to just 1,300 pieces and come individually numbered, which is a super cool touch for those die-hard Seiko fans and streetwear enthusiasts alike.

The first design – Seiko SRPJ19, and our favourite – is adorned by earthy, muted tones of khaki green, orange and brown, which almost seems to be a nod to Seiko’s military-inspired past (think the Seiko Willard from Apocalypse Now). The black dial makes this piece versatile, while the neon green Huf logo and central seconds hand expresses Huf’s brand philosophy of fusing function and fashion together seamlessly. The two-tone green and beige bezel is super lovely, without being showy and projects a warm earth tone feel.

On the caseback, you’ll immediately notice Huf’s iconic green colour and the limited-edition serial number. We love this, and think the visibility to the automatic movement (Caliber 4R36, 41 hour power reserve) through a neon green tinted glass caseback is super impressive.

The SRPJ19 is presented on a versatile khaki fabric strap which you will have no issue wearing everyday. The SRPJ19 is limited to just 1000 pieces.

The second design – Seiko SRPJ20 – is less utilitarian and more premium. The gold watch offers a luxe approach by using a gold-toned IP coating for both case and bracelet and is paired with a lovely sunray brushed dark green dial. The SRPJ20 uses baton markers instead of the usual round lume pot hour markers.

The automatic movement utilises Calibre 4R36 – like the SRPJ19- which offers an impressive 41 hour power reserve. On the back, you’ll find the Huf logo adorned in the classic green colourway. Just 300 will be made for this piece and each watch will be individually numbered on the caseback.

Both pieces fall under the Seiko 5 portfolio which represent arguably the best entry-level automatic timepiece for those looking to own their first automatic watch.

Huf was founded back in 2002 by professional skateboarder Keith Hufnagel. Since its inception, it has become a global apparel brand that has captured the spirit of skateboarding and street culture in a premium way, dedicated to pushing skate culture forward.

The Seiko x Huf timepieces will be available tp purchase on April 21 HUF and at HUF flagship stores and will retail for approx $450 and $500.
