Every year on the first Monday in May, the who’s who of Hollywood and beyond descend upon the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York city for fashion’s biggest night out, the Met Gala.
While it was all eyes on the star-studded attendees who were fortunate enough to receive an invite to the 2022 Met Gala, for watch fanatics (and geeks), it was the wrist bling that garnered some serious attention, with high-flying celebs flaunting truly outrageous timepieces.
With appearances from the Patek Philippe Tiffany Nautilus to the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Tourbillon, we’ve outlined the best watches that caught our eye at this year’s glamorous Met Gala.
Ryan Reynolds – Omega Speedmaster Moonshine Gold (Green Dial)
Everybody’s favourite leading man also happened to be the night’s official host, together with wife Blake Lively. And while Reynolds looked incredibly dapper in a classic Ralph Lauren tuxedo, our eyes couldn’t help but wonder over to his wrist, where a stunning new Omega Speedster lay.
The 18-carat gold case, paired with its gorgeous deep green dial, is everything. Pair that with the history of the Omega Speedmaster, and you have yourself a damn fine timepiece.
Nyjah Huston – Roger Dubuis Excalibur MT Cobalt Blue 42mm
Bold, brave and blue, professional skateboarder Nyjah Huston paired his flattering three-piece with the Roger Dubuis Excalibur MT in Cobalt Blue. This is not an unassuming watch, nor is its price tag ($210K). A great example of Haute horology, the skeleton calibre – manufactured in-house by Roger Dubuis – is a sight to marvel at.
Oscar Isaac – Cartier Tank Française
Classy and timeless, just like Mr. Oscar Isaac, the Moon Knight star was found to wearing a gold Cartier Tank Francaise. With its beautiful integrated bracelet, curved case and seamless style, this piece was as aesthetically pleasing as Isaac’s Thom Browne suit skirt.
Corey Gamble – Patek Philippe Tiffany Nautilus
The hype around the Patek Philippe Tiffany Nautilus still hasn’t subsided, and while many a watch enthusiast are still in two minds about this piece, we thought it didn’t look half bad on the wrist of talent manager (and boyfriend of Kris Jenner) Corey Gamble.
Jack Harlow – Rolex Sky-Dweller
‘It’ boy Jack Harlow may have turned heads thanks to his silky brown double breasted suit (win), but his Rolex Sky-Dweller with its beautiful fluted bezel and marine blue dial was a showstopper.
Regé-Jean Page – Longines DolceVita
Regé-Jean Page was looking very James Bond-esque at this year’s Met Gala in a velvet blue ensemble. Capping off his striking look was a slender, square-style Longines DolceVita that ticks all the right boxes when it comes to a dress watch.
Adrien Brody – Cartier Santos Yellow Gold
It would seem that Mr. Adrien Brody can do no wrong in the style department. Just look at his Cartier Santos in Yellow Gold and marvel, folks. A timepiece very befitting for the occasion… and its wearer.
Sarah Jessica Parker – Cartier Tank SolarBeat
And just like that, Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker completed her Met Gala look with the very affordable, stylish Cartier Tank SolarBeat. Our only gripe was how she was wearing it… it seemed to have been swimming on her wrist.
