Babe, start packing your Hermès Oran sandals, Orlebar Brown swimwear and your best sunnies because the location for season three of The White Lotus has landed and it’s practically next door.

According to Variety, everyone’s favourite show where we get to watch the worst people unravel in the best possible way will be shot on familiar soil for many Australians: Thailand.

Rumours are already floating around on who will return to make the lives of hotel staff and locals hell in the new season: Connie Britton from season one is allegedly reviving her role as business-focused Nicole Mossbacher.

Ever since writer, director and producer Mark White first introduced us to the beautiful cringe-worthy behaviour of the rich and entitled back in season one White Lotus (and it’s opening theme) has become one of the most addictive pieces of television today.

Whether it’s been deep dives into the weaponisation of of woke intellectualism in season one or the dynamics of sex and power between the classes, The White Lotus has become something of a mirror to tourism culture.

Up until now, however, Australian audiences have been able to keep the behaviours depicted the show at a distance but season three, and it’s familiar landscapes, might change that. Thailand is a popular getaway for Australian travellers looking to cash in on what they see as a gateway to cheap and easy hedonism.

While no other cast (aside from Britton, and that’s only alleged) has been locked in it would be fascinating to see if they take advantage of Australia’s proximity and include a few of our best. Or worst, if you take in the storyline.

As to whether or not we’ll get revenge, I mean closure, on public enemy numero uno Greg Hunt who it’s assumed was in on the plot to kill beloved mess Tanya played by Jennifer Coolidge remains to be seen. If you’re reading this Mark, the people demand justice! And drama!

Previous sets of the series have utilised Four Season properties in Hawaii and Italy and Thailand is home to four of the world’s grandest Four Seasons hotels. So it’s not too much of a leap to assume he will continue that relationship.

As we learn more, we’ll keep you updated!
