Dressed in black leather and roaming the streets of New York City, Timothée Chalamet has given us a first glimpse at what his new campaign for Chanel might look like. Short answer: it’s looking good. Then again, it could be argued that was as inevitable as the sun rising considering that it’s being directed by one of cinema’s biggest icons, Martin Scorsese.

Over the past week, Chalamet and Scorsese have been spotted at various locations of New York City, including a rainy train platform in Astoria and the streets of NoHo (North of Houston Street), where they have been filming the Dune star in various looks and interactions.

The chic black leather outfit is just one of several fashion moments that Chalamet is due to deliver in the final edit, including a more corporate waistcoat and suit pants complete with brief case, a polka dot shirt with denim and even a singlet with some sweatpants.

The commercial is the latest campaign for Chanel’s pillar fragrance for men, Bleu de Chanel. Before Chalamet, the late French actor Gaspard Ulliel had been the face of the fragrance and had appeared in an earlier Scorsese-directed campaign for the scent alongside Ingrid Sophie Schram.

Chalamet steps into the role after the shocking news that Ulliel, who had been associated with Bleu de Chanel since it’s launch back in 2010, had died in a skiing accident in the Alps. He was 37-years-old.

This isn’t the only big news for the Bones And All star recently, after it was rumoured – then confirmed – that the 27-year-old was dating none other than beauty mogul Kylie Kardashian.
