“You need to find a state of energy that is true for the scene that you’re playing. So say you’re doing a really emotional scene, you need to find that energy or that chemical in your body – which is all it is to me at least – and when you trigger it, tears can start,” cover star Bill Skarsgård explained to ICON amid the release of It Chapter 2. For the actor, he is now considered well versed in horror and thriller following his role as murderous clown, Pennywise. So when it was announced he would join Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland in Netflix film, The Devil All Time, it was no surprise that it is already garnering awards buzz.
Plucking Tom Holland for the Marvel scene as well as Robert Pattinson who is soon to be the new Batman, the forthcoming thriller is an adaption of the book of the same name. The gothic noir is set in the countryside of Ohio and follows protagonist Arvin Russell (Holland) as he fights a number of mysterious and sinister characters. Think, an unholy preacher (Pattinson), a twisted couple (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough), and a crooked sheriff (Sebastian Stan) who ultimately threaten the future of him and his family.
Directed and co-written by Antonio Campos and produced by Jake Gyllenhaal and Randall Poster, the trailer promises moody interludes, nail-biting plot twists and heart-pounding scenes which will see its first release via streaming platform, Netflix. And dare I say it, it is the best looking cast thus far. Watch the trailer below and catch the full film from September 16 – mark your calendars.
