Across the globe A$AP Rocky has been held in high esteem for his contributions to the music and fashion industry. But last week, the 30-year-old was arrested following a performance in Stockholm, Sweden for a street brawl involving his security guard and two members of the public. Allegedly charged with “gross assault”, the rapper will be held in a Swedish prison for up to two weeks while he waits to appear in front of a judge.

Causing Rocky to cancel shows in Norway, Poland, Ireland and Britain, that is the least of his problems as a new report from TMZ suggests he is being held in “inhumane” conditions. Described as “disease ridden”, sources told the publication that a US official from the American consulate visited Rocky and reported back saying,”Walking into that place was like walking into a toilet.”

Several inmates have reportedly serious mental health issues, while all are provided a yoga mat and no blanket to sleep on. Food has been described as “inedible” and the water is not clean.

Following rejected court appeals from the TESTING artist’s lawyer, Henrik Olsson Lilja, the appeal was taken to the Supreme Court. Again, it was rejected and said it found “no reason” to review the case according to local media.

Not much else is known at this point as in Sweden, court proceedings are closed to the public and media.

As expected fans and fellow rappers have taken to social media with the hashtags #FreeRocky and #FreeFlacko.

Stay tuned for further developments.
