No matter what you may think of her, Kim Kardashian is a master marketer. A skill that she has reconfirmed with the launching of the latest Skims campaign featuring Usher, a week ahead of his scheduled performance in the Super Bowl halftime show.

But something feels like this was in the planning stages for a VERY long time. Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we?

Last year, one of the Kardashian plot lines was how Khloe and Kim had plans to go see Usher in his Vegas residency. Like all soap operas, the situation was dragged out and then it never happened because of turbulence so viewers were left with a cliffhanger: will they ever get the chance to hang out in the VIP section with their favourite 90s R&B star?

Turns out Kim would. Twice. First, when Kim officiated at hairstylist Chris Appleton’s wedding to his fiance, actor Lukas Gage (plot twist: they announced their separation days after the episode aired). In true Libra form, Kim completely forgot about allegedly promising to see the show with her friends. She also forgot to tell Khloe they were going– Khloe, who had planned on being the flower girl at the wedding.

Then the second time, when she remembered her promise and took all her friends, Khloe included, back down to Vegas and saw the show again. That’s a lot of airtime for someone who isn’t contractually obliged to be a part of the show.

Or was he? Honestly, I wouldn’t put it past Kimberley and her mother Kris to have the foresight of creating an entire season’s plot that would seed the announcement of Usher as Skims model. It’s the kind of meticulously planned and executed planning that, when you think about it, is dazzling in its ruthless brilliance.
